Specifying this panel
DOL is right when the motor is small enough that its inrush doesn't matter and the load can take full torque from standstill. Above about 7.5 kW the volt-drop starts dimming lights elsewhere on the board.
The starting current limit is usually the utility's, not the motor's. Many distribution licensees cap direct-on-line starting at a stated kW — check before specifying.
